2006.05 ~ : The Special Visit of a Nobel Prize Laureate to our Club |
On May 5th 2006 our club President Mr. Hilton Goi met with Professor Robert Laughlin, the first ever foreign President of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and a 1998 Nobel Prize Laureate in Physics. Mr. Goi discussed with Professor Laughlin about the need of advanced communication and leadership education for KAIST students and researchers in Daedeok Science Town. As promised, Professor Laughlin visited our club in a special meeting, and gave a 20 minute speech related to communication and leadership. Professor Laughlin explained that good speeches are those which can change the listeners feeling, making them afraid or courageous, happy or sad, excited or calm. In his example, he showed how a talk can make people surprised, all DTC members and guests who attended the meeting will never forget the story who got my arm!? You got it! Professor Laughlin also addressed the speech of condolences for the 2nd year since the deadly accident that occurred at Aerospace Division at KAIST. DTC members could get many good advices from Professor Laughlin and enjoyed taking pictures and talking with the Nobel Prize Laureate.
